Opened in 2001 on the site where the company has operated a succession of lumber operations since 1926, Millar Western's high-efficiency sawmill/planer mill complex at Whitecourt employs 255 people and produces 300 million board feet per year of SPF dimension lumber and specialty wood products annually.

Working with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, Millar Western's staff of 35 woodlands managers, foresters, technicians and other specialists are responsible for meeting the fibre needs of the company's lumber and pulp mills while ensuring the sustainability, and protecting the health and diversity, of publicly-owned forest lands.
