Safety
We measure success in many ways, but no result is more important to us than the health and safety of our employees. We consider a job is done well only if it is accomplished without harm coming to anyone.

Creating a safe work environment is not just a responsibility but a condition of employment at Millar Western. We expect all employees:

  • to be familiar with and abide by the corporate safety manual, as well as the safety requirements specific to the operation where they work;

  • to act in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act - its regulations and safety codes;

  • to take all necessary steps to protect themselves and their co-workers from injury;

  • to bring any safety infractions to the attention of management;

  • to report all safety incidents immediately so that they can be responded to appropriately and steps can be taken to prevent them from recurring;

  • to ensure that our contractors have the appropriate credentials, safety orientation and insurance coverage; and,

  • to make certain that visitors to our operations are aware of potential hazards and provided with the knowledge and protection they need to stay safe.

We urge you to think carefully about each task you undertake - to consider potential risks and take all necessary steps to eliminate them so that, at the end of the day, everyone heads home healthy. Remember: no job is so important that it cannot be done safely.

Please also keep in mind that attention to safety doesn’t end when you leave the work site. We ask that you stay alert to safety risks on the way to and from work, in your homes and at all times, so that you can enjoy all aspects of life, as well as continue contributing your talents as a valued part of our workforce.
