Community
Throughout our history, Millar Western has built close ties with the communities in which we operate and has worked to make a positive contribution to their quality of life. One of the ways we do this is by being a responsible employer and stable economic contributor. Our operations directly employ over 600 people full-time, and our forest management operations hire hundreds of seasonal contractors to carry out our harvesting and reforestation plans.
We also invest in our local communities by contributing to worthy causes, providing monetary support and in-kind services focussed primarily in the areas of health, education, poverty alleviation and family and youth oriented initiatives.
Another way Millar Western contributes to our local communities is through the enhancement of educational opportunities. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure our own employees, community members and today’s youth have the information and education they need to make responsible decisions with regard to sustaining our natural resources for the future. Please see our Enhancing Opportunities document for more information.
